Lakshmi James is known for her deep viola sound and an encompassing love for transforming her audience with sounds of classical and pop style. Lakshmi, born to a family not of classical music roots, began playing viola after hearing it played by her elementary school orchestra teacher. Early in her musical journey she knew that there was nothing else in her life that would make her happy like performing. The viola is her voice and her soul.  

Professionally, Lakshmi founded The Devonshire Players LLC, www.thedevonshireplayers.com, an award winning string quartet. She also performs with elite symphonic orchestras as well as free-lancing throughout New York City and the tri-state area. Her latest accomplishment is recording her first EP, " Live Free". "Live Free" embodies the essence of Lakshmi's musical voice. Classical music meets popular music.
